The color story in Morocco is one of deep, rich, fullness. Natural pigments and stark contrast color combinations evoke both healing and inspiration. Below are three of my favorite color stories from Morocco.
Blue as a Backdrop

Royal Blue has to be my favorite, as a lover of the sea. As a backdrop to reds, oranges yellows and pinks, it captivates. Despite the loudness of the colors they bring such peace, a place of total juxtaposition.

Green and White

“White” here used loosely because, of course, given the natural properties of the pigments and processes used to make the tiles its not possible to achieve a crisp clean white. Paired with green there is enough contrast for it to appear so but remind us that nature is not pure and uniform.
Green and white is deeply rooted in Islamic art and architecture, often used in mosque minarets and courtyards. It carries with it a spiritual feeling, associated with purity, cleanliness and nature.

Terracotta
Sunbaked, earthy walls and pots, most notable throughout the city of Marrakech, known as the Red City. The earthy pigment-lime washed walls remind us of Marrakech deep artisan history and keeps us grounded in world full of high rise glass offices.
